Since I just started this blog, you may not know that I'm a sophomore in high school. As for most people, at my age, you may or may not be trying to decide on a career so that you can start planning for colleges, finances, jobs. Everything in that topic. And as I began this search for what works for ME, I've found a lot of answers to a lot of my "what ifs". I'm still undecided on what college... But I have looked into jobs, and a car. Which is a big step for me. But anyways, where I'm getting at, is these are decisions, CHOICES. Everything from here on out, will/can make a difference in my journey to becoming my one and only desirable major. Sports Medicine. I have loved sports since I was four, when I decided to take up gymnastics. Which took up most of childhood. But in many cases, I believe that gymnastics taught me more than to just walk on a four inch beam, or to swing on the bar. Beyond the countless injuries, I don't regret taking up gymnastics. But then came a time, when my injuries got unbearably worse, and I couldn't barely walk without pain. So I decided it was time to give gymnastics up, as my mom once said, "retired". Even then, I still couldn't live without some type of physical activity. So then,(as for most gymnasts would never begin to imagine) I became a cheerleader. After a year of competitive, I ended up absolutely marveling over how much of a delight it was to have no pain whatsoever, and actually enjoying the "over the top, wannabe gymnasts", as I used to call them. Hilarious right? Yeah. I know. And ever since the day I began cheer, I have followed through with it. And I appreciate gymnastics so much, because i would not be able to even tumble at all, plus the flexibility that comes along with cheer. So this has all been a learning experience. I mean, I've honestly learned many traits both gym and cheer have put me through. For example, patience, determination, cooperation with all types of personalities, and the list could go on for ages. I honestly think that if I wouldn't have made the decision to begin gymnastics, at the age of four, my life wouldn't be the same today.
Sincerely, Laura.
